Sabah is the place where I called home. It is the second largest state out of thirteen states in Malaysia and it has about 3.2 million populations. Sabah is special due to the diverse ethnic groups that live in harmony. There are 22 main ethnic who speak 55 languages and practicing their individual customs.

The main ethnic groups are the Kadazandusun, Bajau, Rungus and Murut. It is not surprising to see various and unique festivals in Sabah as a result of its diverse population. Some of the colorful and well preserved festivals are the Pesta Kaamatan, Regatta Lepa Semporna, and Pesta Rumbia.

Sabah, also known as the “Land below the Wind” is also well known for its Orang Utan sanctuary, beautiful beaches and diving sites as well as the home to the highest mountain in Southeast Asia, the Mount Kinabalu.

Living here is peaceful and I am lucky that I live outside the city center away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is a lot of lush green scenery around and I wake up each morning to the sounds of birds chirping and the occasional sound of cockerel.

Do you have a problem getting your child to go to the dentist? For my own kids, I make it a rule to go as a family. I will normally arrange the visit to be once or twice a year or as needed.

My kids know that going to the dentist is necessary for check-ups, cleaning or to have a tooth pulled out. They feel comforted knowing that the parents are around to support them. They also understand that it is a common experience and they need to take care of their teeth now to ensure good and proper teeth when they are older.

At the dentist, my eldest son (Jonathan) normally wants to go in first. My second son (Julian) on the other hand, likes to be the last person to go in. I started to bring my daughter Jacquelyn, last year when she just turned two years of age. She has the bad habit of wanting a bottle of milk just before bedtime and another one during the middle of the night. Hence, she has “teeth caries” caused by her milk.

Her dentist prescribed a “tooth mousse” to be used twice a day as added protection for her teeth in addition to the normal brushing. You can see her picture below during her first visit to the dentist. She was the most excited person during that visit compared to the rest of the family.

Therefore, if your kids are apprehensive about going to the dentist, make it as a family outing. They would not feel so bad as everyone gets their turn including mom and dad

This article is for my two boys, Jonathan and Julian. I have been thinking of a post about them for quite a while now and decided to write about their favorite cartoon show which is Ben 10.

Adults are prone to following certain fads, the latest fashion, popular gadgets, etc. Well, I discovered long ago that children are no different and my kids are no exception. They are currently ‘into’ everything related to Ben 10. They watch the cartoons and the movie. During the school holidays, they watched the cartoon everyday at least twice a day not wanting to miss an episode.

They have requested for Ben 10 toys and comic books for their past Birthday and Christmas presents. However, I did not fall into their demands for Ben 10 clothing despite telling me about a friend of theirs who has a Ben 10 school bag and even underpants. I have posted a few Ben 10 related characters as well to satisfy them as this article is dedicated to them.
