Do you ever feel overwhelmed and down from the responsibilities of being a parent? Have you ever heard of a parent expressing only positive comments about family life? I believe you would hear bad comments more often than good ones.
What are the factors to make parents feel unhappy and stressed out? Some of the common factors that hamper the parents from gaining happiness and satisfaction from their parenting role are:
- There is a common necessity for both parents to go out to work to earn an income to support the family.
- Some families have a family history of break-ups, divorces and single parenthood. For most of them, they lack a strong foundation or understanding on creating a successful family life.
- Working parents faces many challenges and pressures not only from family life but also from work and other sources. They may be worrying about their health, their finances, their job stability or even about maintaining their spousal relationship.
What can you do to improve this situation?
Basically, having a happy family life means experiencing occasions or situations where you are able to derive feelings of happiness and satisfaction. For example, familiar and comforting family experiences or traditions. Create family rituals, ceremonies, traditions or special occasions. Think of the things that you can do with your family and make efforts to attain the following:
- Have time to get some fun like doing something you normally enjoy
- Have confidence and satisfaction with the job you are doing
- Have confidence that your family are well taken care off and have a good life
- Have confidence that you have contributed to your children’s success
The above may not give you 100% satisfaction or happiness but these are ideas to improve your situation.
If you have your own ideas and methods that work, please share them here.
