Parents who are involve or hands-on in their children’s education will be happy to know that it helps their children do better in school. Some of the factors to influence a child’s education performance are the socioeconomic level of the family, the cultural background, the parent’s involvement and the child’s natural academic capability. Among the factors above, the parent’s involvement or participation is the stronger indicator of academic success compared to the rest.
Parents can help a child to succeed by doing some of the things mentioned below:
• Set up a proper study area or table for studying or doing school work.
• Set up a good environment for studying.
• Set up a schedule or study time for your child. Make school work a priority before other activities.
• Communicate with the teacher especially on the subjects that are difficult for your child.
• Participate in school related activities like attending the parents-teach meetings.
A child spends one-half of his waking hours doing school work or is in the classroom. It is only natural for parents to help their kids get organize and make school enjoyable as well as a happy and successful experience.
